Taken
away to a different world when she was a young cub, she grew up in the
world known as the Curving Wake. Though not born with the fin-wings she
has now, they've been a part of her since cubhood and allow flight when
she Element would otherwise not have. Her Elemental Mutation
causes aspects of a coral reef to grow from her body, and although
she's suited for surviving in the depths, it was not an option given to
her in that world. The depths of the Curving Wake were dangerous, large
predators often ate meals larger than her, and venturing beyond the
shorelines was a recipe for disaster. So her forays into the depths
were kept to a minimum, a passing curiosity that she gave up in favour
of exploring the Overgrowth.
Her skin is made of a thick whale-like hide, hard to harm and but not
completely resistant to damage. The scars on her wings are leftover
from her first dive in to the Overgrowth, when the thorns of vines and
the monsters of their shadows attempted to strand her in the darkness.
Although she returned to the Overgrowth many times after that, she
herself never once found a rune quarry. It was always as if someone was
purposefully going out of their way to deny her finding a quarry,
keeping just a few steps ahead of her in the dark. Her suspicions were
never confirmed, but it was still unsettling to hear tales of rune
quarries being so easy to find when her own experience was much
different.

Notes:
Her IriKan have forms made of water, although they're immune to
heat/evaporation and cannot be frozen. They can cause physical harm to
others, and can 'drown' those small enough to be swallowed by their
forms. When she was a cub the first IriKan appeared in the form of a
small crab that followed her around everywhere and scavenged food from
the reefs off the shores. Early teenhood found her second IriKan taking
the form of a hunter-fish after a run in with a vicious sea predator.
The last IriKan took on an eel-like shape, and arrived before
adulthood. Together they act as guards and sentries, ever alert for
danger coming for their bonded. |
